Catholic Charities of West TN, Mid-South Food Bank & International Paper Volunteers Distribute Food

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - July 31, 2015 - PRLog -- Catholic Charities of West Tennessee (CCWTN) partnered on Thursday morning (July 30) with the Mid-South Food Bank and volunteer employees from International Paper to distribute over five tons of food to 350 families in Whitehaven from the Memphis and Shelby County community.

“Approximately four times each year we join together with the Mid-South Food Bank and a corporate partner to visit a food-insecure part of our community for one of these large scale food distributions,” said Mike Allen President and CEO of Catholic Charities of West Tennessee. “Today, with the assistance of volunteer employees from International Paper – we made quick work of helping a large number of our neighbors with bags of fresh produce, meats and other food stuffs. It is quite an operation and we cannot do it without volunteers and corporate partners like International Paper,” said Allen.

The 350 families served were identified and pre-screened by a network of multi-denominational churches and other organizations from the Memphis area.
