PORTSMOUTH, N.H. - July 28, 2015 - PRLog -- The Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra is excited to announce the search for an Executive Director to help steer the course of the thriving community driven non-profit organization. The occasion is nothing short of monumental for the PSO.

The hiring of an Executive Director is the next step in the PSO’s mission towards driving further overall community development and facilitating rooted educational initiatives to advance more widespread awareness and appreciation of classical music across myriad demographics.

“The orchestra’s ongoing success has attracted a considerable amount of attention and the emergence of some particularly supportive financial backing whose generosity and com- mitment to high-quality classical music performance has now made it possible for the PSO to start a search for its first-ever paid administrative position,” said PSO President Clinton Frederick Miller, MD. “We are very excited about moving the PSO to the next level as a self-sustaining community symphony orchestra with an expanded series of subscription concerts as well as collaborative efforts with other local arts organizations.”

The Executive Director will be responsible for the development, administration, and the finances of PSO operations consistent with the PSO mission of "entertaining, educating, and encouraging classical music appreciation by current and future audiences." Audience development among young people, especially students of music, is a paramount objective and will involve seeking collaborative relationships with area schools and music educators.

Though the hope is to hire an Executive Director before the new season kicks off in November, this search will certainly not be in haste. The chosen candidate will be at the forefront of one of the most dynamic and burgeoning civic organizations in the Northeast.
