Industrial Hygienists Share Stories of How the CIH® Credential Changed their Lives

LANSING, Mich. - July 28, 2015 - PRLog -- The CIH^® credential has been recognized as the premier standard in the industrial hygiene profession for over a half a century.  Many industry professionals have plans for becoming a CIH^® in the future, but others are unsure of how the credential could impact their careers.

To help answer this important question, ABIH^® began asking CIHs to share their personal stories about the ways certification has changed their professional lives.  Many responded and their stories are regularly posted to the ABIH website. Among the many notable responses are the three following separate excerpts:

- Over the years, my CIH^® has helped open many doors, providing invaluable opportunities as the credential immediately accords recognition of a high level of professional competence in the Industrial Hygiene arena. When I worked as a consultant, multi-national corporation's EHS directors and managers would pick me over others as they were more assured of quality assessment that could be measured against US standards. More recently, my CIH^® has allowed me to switch industries from electronics to pharmaceutical, again the CIH^® credential played a significant role as it immediately showed the high level of competence demanded by the pharmaceutical industry can be met by my professional competence.

- The CIH^® designation will get you noticed, cause your resume to rise to the top and keep you very marketable. The CIH^® credential gives me poise and shared experience with colleagues at business meetings and professional organization events. This provides a way to connect with contemporaries and make new friends. The CIH^® credential was a leading factor in not only attaining my current position, but has re-invigorated my presence in the industrial hygiene profession. This allows me to grow further. For you, attaining the CIH^® will open doors and allow further grow in your career.

- My CIH^® certification has provided me with many benefits. My increase in technical knowledge in the environmental, health & safety industry was the first immediate benefit that I obtained. The professional recognition and respect that the CIH^® certification has also been another one of the great benefits since I obtained it. In addition, as a small business owner of a consulting firm having the CIH^® certification has allowed me to actually raise my consulting rates and provide additional services that I couldn't provide before such as Site-Specific Health & Safety Plans, Clandestine Lab Assessments, Public Safety Plans for CAL-TRANS projects, and Infection Control Plans. I think getting the CIH^® certification has been the best professional decision I have ever made.
