Ronnie Stone Named President/CEO of Southeast Ventura County YMCA

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - July 27, 2015 - PRLog -- Ronnie Stone has been named president/CEO of the Southeast Ventura County YMCA (SEVYMCA) by the SEVYMCA board of directors. The SEVYMCA oversees four branches: Conejo Valley YMCA (serving Thousand Oaks, Moorpark and Santa Rosa Valley), Miller Family YMCA of Newbury Park, Triunfo YMCA (serving Agoura Hills, Westlake Village and Oak Park) and Simi Valley Family YMCA.

         Stone was previously executive director of the Triunfo YMCA. He was instrumental in the success of the current joint capital campaign with the City of Westlake Village to build a new regional park and state-of-the-art YMCA. The 60,000 sq. ft. Triunfo YMCA facility off of Lindero Canyon Road is expected to open in spring 2016 and will include two pools, basketball gym, multipurpose space, cardio and strength room and a Dole Interactive Learning Center and Café. To date, the Y has raised over $26 million toward the $35 million building goal. The City of Westlake Village is nearing completion on three baseball/softball fields and three youth soccer fields.

         “We selected a very strong leader at a time when the Y is expanding in the community,” said Doug Platts, SEVYMCA board chairperson. “Today, the focus on healthy living is more critical than ever. Our children are in danger of becoming inactive and overweight due to more screen time and less play time. We are seeing more health problems related to bad habits than ever before. Ronnie has a grassroots understanding of the greater Conejo Valley making him uniquely qualified for this position. Ronnie’s commitment to the community is personal. He grew up here and is raising his own family here. As a father and long-time YMCA professional, Ronnie is very familiar with the health challenges at hand and looks forward to being an agent of change.”

         Stone has lived locally for more than 30 years, attending Agoura High School and California State University, Northridge. “I joined the Y movement because I wanted to give back to the community that has meant so much to me and my family,” says Stone who has worked for the YMCA in various capacities since 1992. “I believe in the YMCA core values of respect, responsibility, honesty and caring. Now is the time for the community to get to know what the Y is all about, especially as we open the Triunfo YMCA early next year.”
