By: WNBP The Legends Radio Visitors can get up close to inspect classic cars from across New England on State, Pleasant, State, Unicorn, and Inn Streets along with the Harris Street Parking Lot and the Patrick Tracy Square. The rain date is Aug. 20, 2015. "We are in our fourth year and really have the rhythm down to make this a first-class celebration," The 2015 car show will feature a theme of "The British Are Coming, The British Are Coming" in Patrick Tracy Square, where anglophiles and patriots can swoon over the exquisite craftsmanship of roadsters, sports cars and Jeeps from manufacturers like MG, Bentley, Triumph, Jaguar, and Sunbeam Tiger. Some of the other activities include: The Institution for Savings will feature "Woodies," wood-paneled show cars from the 1930s through the early 1950s, in their parking lot. A favorite among surfers on the left coast, these woody wagons gained popularity nationwide - with or without a surf board. This year, the show will have a collection of vintage motorcycles, from such favorite makers as Indian and Harley Davidson on display. MK Benatti Jewelers, located at 1 State Street, will feature the "jewel" of the show with a rare classic car on display courtesy of the Owls Head Transportation Museum in Maine. Inn Street will host a variety of micro and mini cars, proving that good things do come in small packages. "Take a road trip to the past with these beauties," said Wes Pettengill, who serves as curator of Cruisin' the '50s and host of WNBP Radio's "Calling All Cars" program. "We scour New England to find and invite the finest American and European automobiles, motorcycles, rare and obscure cars from the 1940s through 1960s so you can view the vehicles and share your own stories with friends and family," he said. Ann Ormond, President of the Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce, noted that this event is a boon to the local economy that not only appeals to tourists but also to residents. "Walking down the streets viewing the range of impeccable cars, hearing classic music, dancing, shopping, dining... Cruisin' the '50s is a fantastic way to spend a summer night in our historic seaport," she said.
