American Malta Foundation Undertakes Major Oral History Project Documenting North-American Migratio

By: The American Malta Foundation
BOSTON - July 23, 2015 - PRLog -- The American Malta Foundation is gathering histories from those who have a connection to Maltese families that immigrated to the United States or Canada. This marks the first such effort in North America; a project specifically created to document the Maltese immigrant experience.

In addition to professional historians associated with the American Malta Foundation, oral interviews can be conducted by family, friends and fellow members of organizations where Maltese immigrants are members, such as fraternal societies, churches, and Maltese cultural organizations. In most cases, the interviewer should be personally known to the interview subject; knowledgeable about the oral interview process, or willing to learn about oral interview techniques and best practices; and familiar with the technology required to record the interview.

By collecting the stories of Maltese immigrants through a carefully constructed oral interview process, the newly crated repository will serve as original source material for scholars and family historians interested in this immigrant population.

The American Malta Foundation inspires North Americans to learn about, experience and support places of great historic, cultural, and natural significance in Malta, in alliance with Din l-Art ń¶elwa, the National Trust of Malta.
