Hop Dog Throws Open the Doors in Downtown Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. - Aug. 24, 2015 - PRLog -- The highly-anticipated Hop Dog restaurant has launched in downtown Portland after whetting Portlanders’ appetites with a sneak preview and hot dog giveaway on Thursday, July 23 in celebration of National Hot Dog Day. Ever shaping the next big thing in food by putting an artisan spin on fast and casual favorites, locals restaurateurs Katie Poppe and Micah Camden, founders of Blue Star Donuts, Boxer Ramen, Little Big Burger and Son of a Biscuit, are opening their latest venture, Hop Dog, together with partner Matt Lynch.

Hop Dog fits well into the fast and casual with the high-quality ingredients restaurant profile that has been a successful model for Poppe and Camden. Hop Dog sources gourmet dogs from Portland charcuterie authority Olympia Provisions and New York hot dog king Sabrett, which are boiled in beer and served in buns made from pretzelized brioche dough from Portland’s beloved pâtisserieNuvrei utilizing their bagel-making technique. The collaborative result is the ultimate Portland-style hot dog served in the heart of downtown. “Hot dogs reflect the identity of a city,” said Camden. “We’ve aimed to create the perfect Portland dog by bringing together some of the most respected names in town.” The hot dog names on the rotating menu are inspired by the founders’ own furry companions.

Camden and Poppe’s colorful restaurants have quickly won over the palettes of Portlanders and gained recognition around the nation and the world.
