Monika Hilton, owner of In The Kut Soul Food and Sweets graduated from South University in 2009 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She used her culinary talents as Restaurant Manager at McDonald’s, Sous Chef at the Sheraton Hotel, and Head Chef at Chi Psi Fraternity House at the University of South Carolina.
The last few years have shown positive growth for the talented chef and Hilton has had opportunities to cater to many prominent individuals in the community such as, Jeffrey Lampkim, Curtis Wilson, Sheriff Leon Lott, Governor Mark Sanford, and Cynthia Hardey, as well as in the entertainment industry to include: Steve Harvey, Michael Baisden, Russ Parr, Wendy Williams, Meelah from R&B Divas, Lil Scrappy, Brian McKnight, Joe, CoCo from SWV, Joshua Rogers from Sunday's Best, Bernadette Stanis (“Thelma” from Good Times), and All Star NFL Pro Steven Davis just to name a few.
This year Mrs. Hilton decided to partner up with business mogul Tye-V Turman of Tyeland South Inc. to open up her own restaurant called In the Kut Soul Food & Sweets. The restaurant's menu offers everything from customized cakes, cupcakes, Monika's homemade ice cream to ox tails, twenty-five flavors of chicken, Mac-n-cheese and vegan dishes.
In The Kut is celebrating opening its doors by inviting EVERYONE! It is going to be a great time for the community. There will be free food samples, free drinks, karaoke, a DJ, and more.
