LOS ANGELES - July 20, 2015 - PRLog -- Francis Hamit, author of the action-packed spy thriller “The Shenandoah Spy,” has pledged the profits from one thousand copies of the print edition of his novel, the story of famous Confederate spy Belle Boyd, to the Belle Boyd House Museum & Library in Martinsburg, West Virginia.

“They put out an appeal for funds to replace all of their 35 windows, and this is a great way for me to repay them for the research assistance I received when I was writing ‘The Shenandoah Spy.’ They need about $28,000, so I will donate $14.00 for every book sold through this campaign up to a thousand copies. That should cover about half the cost. I’m hopeful that other donations will cover the rest.”

Actual sales and fulfillment will not be handled by Belle Boyd House or the Berkeley County Historical Society that owns and manages it, but by Hamit’s distributor, Pathway Book Service, of Gilsum, New Hampshire.

“The Berkeley County Historical Society is a small, all-volunteer non-profit group with many other things to do. Pathway is much more able to handle this, and they already have the books on hand,” Hamit explained, “so we are going to leave it to them.”

Because of contractual commitments, the book cannot be sold for less than the full retail price of $22.50 each. Shipping is an additional $5.25, for a total of $27.75. Sales tax may be collected for some states.

Books may be ordered directly from Pathway by telephone at 1-800-345-6665, or by mail to Pathway Book Service, PO Box 89, Gilsum NH 03448. Credit cards are accepted. Mention the code BHWR to make sure your purchase is credited to the Belle Boyd House campaign.

Orders placed through the Facebook page for “The Shenandoah Spy” will automatically be part of the campaign; no code will be needed. Fulfillment of these orders will also be by Pathway.

“I realize that many people have already read 'The Shenandoah Spy,' which is also in e-book and audiobook editions,” said Hamit. “So I encourage people who don’t want to buy another copy to simply make a donation directly, in any amount, to the Berkeley County Historical Society. Doing so will not reduce the size of my pledge.”

Direct donations for the Belle Boyd House window replacement program may be sent to: Berkeley County Historical Society, PO Box 1624, Martinsburg WV 25401.
