“College Sex Tribunals Reveal Epidemic of False Rape Accusations”

These anecdotes were all made possible by the new "Affirmative Consent" policy and its implications: young adults are branded as sex offenders without a fair trial.

FREDERICK, Md. - July 16, 2015 - PRLog -- The Amherst Rape Trial has garnered lots of attention as speculation into the 2012 sexual assault case increases. The plaintiff was a senior at Amherst when he was expelled after being found guilty for sexual assault. Today, he is claiming that his case was handled unjustly, and that there is plentiful evidence the school is refusing to address that could reverse his conviction. Amherst refutes, saying that the investigation was conducted in accordance with policy drafted by the Obama Administration. The President has made it a top priority to crack down on sexual assault on college campuses, often citing the popular statistic that 1 in 5 college women will be sexually assaulted at their schools. Many researchers have been intrigued by this 20%, and such inquiry has ultimately proved that these numbers are grossly overestimated.

Now, K.C. Johnson, Brit Hume, and other prominent icons are outraged by this injustice, and are advocating for past, present, and future victims of false accusation. Popular Fox News Anchor Megyn Kelly attacked the new system asking "What is it about the administration or some who are so committed to protecting them that they are ready to throw young college aged men out the door with no thought to what their rights are, to what their future is like, innocent men in some cases?" This process leaves the faculty of the universities to play the roles of the police, the jury, as well as the judge. Without a legitimate hearing, one that is implicated cannot defendhim/herself, and thus justice will never be achieved.

The Amherst Rape Trial is not the only case to expose the weaknesses of the new sexual assault policies that public universities across the country had to adapt. The University of Virginia rape incident, which involved public exploitation in Rolling Stone magazine, was ultimately found to be fabricated. Furthermore, Praise Martin-Oquike, a former football player at Temple University, was suspended from his team after being falsely accused of rape in May of 2012. The charges were dropped over a year later. These anecdotes were all made possible by the new "Affirmative Consent" policy and its implications: young adults are branded as sex offenders without a fair trial. It is not until their lives have been dragged through mud that they finally get their chance to speak up and be heard. By eliminating due process in these cases, universities are fighting terrible injustice with terrible injustice.
