St. Louis' fastest growing companies

July 14, 2015 - PRLog -- For Pat Melson, president and owner of Midtown Home Improvements, a company is only as good as its personnel. Midtown, which has grown its revenue by 74.6 percent since 2012, reached a record $12.5 million in revenue in 2014 with 87 local employees.

“We keep adding good people,” Melson said of the dramatic revenue increase. “We have great marketing, sales and production teams. During the recession, companies ran out of business along the way and we were able to pick up very good people along the way.”

Midtown specializes in fencing, decking, under decking, patio covers, siding, windows, doors and other home improvements and is in its 25th year in business.

Melson, who joined the company in 1999 as a sales manager, said the company hasn’t always experienced such high annual growth rates, but its products and services fit well with both new and older homes.

“We had steady growth until 2008, and in 2008 we had a pretty bad decline actually,” he said. “We only did a little over $2 million (in 2008), which was a drop from $5 million. But pretty much the whole country dropped in 2008.”

Melson said the company is already up 32 percent this year over last, partly due to the addition of sunroom renovations to Midtown’s product line.

Add any jobs in 2014? We grew our staffing by about by 15, in sales, marketing and production.

Adding any jobs in 2015? About 10 new personnel in sales, marketing and production.
