Follow on Google News | A Flawed System: Why America's "Rape Culture" has Fostered a Massive LieTaxpayer money is wasted on funding a University of Maryland professor's skewed view on the current state of sexual assault in the United States, and therefore promoting the idea that a prominent "rape culture" exists on US campuses nationwide.
By: Voice of Immigration Fraud Campus rape allegations seems to be becoming more and more of an issue to make the headway in the news, but to call it a rape culture is completely absurd. Might I define what a culture is? According to dictionary.com culture is defined as the behavior and belief characteristic of a particular society, ethnic or age group. Yes, there are rapes that happen on college campuses, and sadly ninety percent of those rapes or attempted rapes are college women who know their assailant. Though the truth is they don't make headlines everyday of the week and when they do allegations aren't entirely true. College men across the country are being falsely accused, such as in the Duke Lacrosse case back in 2006 the story broke on NBC, but later was reported that these kids did not force sex on the women working as a stripper and escort. The Temple football rape case in 2013 when the girl accused the player of rapping her because he wouldn't have a long term relationship with her. Supposedly, 1 in 5 college girls will be raped while attending a stateside university. In other words, 20% of all college girls will be raped in the US while furthering their education. Does anyone else find this number a bit absurd? Do you know how many colleges are female dominated in the US? There are 4493 colleges holding between 5,000-30,000 students. This would mean that in a college such as the University of Maryland, where Professor Tambe teaches, with a female to male ratio of about the same, over 3,500 female students are sexually assaulted each and every year. The Department Of Justice's statement that 1-5 college women will get raped isn’t true. A survey found that between 1995 and 2013, an average of 6.1 for every 1,000 female students were raped or sexually assaulted each year, which is about 0.61 percent annually, or (at most) 2.44 percent over the average four-year period (1 in 41). That’s a small ratio compared to 20 percent. That’s also virtually unchanged from 2005, the last time the Bureau of Justice put out this report, where the rate of rape among college women was 6 per 1,000. Moreover, the average rate since 1995 overstates the danger to women on campuses today, because the rape and sexual assault percentages in universities has fallen since the mid-1990s. College women were even safer on campus in 2013, with only 4.3 rapes for every 1,000 college women. So tell me how this is a culture when we don't all partake in such events? Rape is not acceptable in our society nor is it accepted culturally. Here is something for you guys to think about, which is an actual issue: American citizens are being falsely accused of domestic violence, whether it be physical, mental or emotional abuse. This is done with the help of the Violence Against Women Act, which allows immigrants to gain citizenship to our country by claiming domestic abuse from their spouse or partner it allows them to sponsor themselves for a visa, in which the process for their nationalization is speeded up. Therefore, the victims plea is accepted as gospel instead of being investigated by the criminal justice system. How about we learn and educate about this major issue that affects tens of thousands of American citizens, rather than funding some idiotic professor in women's studies that lectures our youth about her insane and ludicrous feminist ideas. -###- Michael Parrotte (http://www.parrotte.net/ End
