Amanda Gibson named Executive Director of Good Shepherd Shelter

Los Angeles’ oldest domestic violence program is planning to double number of families served
 
LOS ANGELES - July 9, 2015 - PRLog -- Amanda Gibson, MSW, LCSW has been named Executive Director of Good Shepherd Shelter replacing Sr. Anne Kelley, who has served the organization for 21 years. Amanda joined Good Shepherd Shelter in 2014 as Clinical Director of Shelter and Education Operations, but her association with the program, began as an undergraduate student from Loyola Marymount University, when she volunteered in the Good Shepherd Shelter school program.

“Amanda’s experience, coupled with her dedication to the mission of Good Shepherd Shelter, made our next steps much easier,” said Christopher Chorba, president of the Good Shepherd Shelter board. “She steps into a program that is poised to serve more survivors of domestic violence than we have been able to serve before in our 111 years in Los Angeles.”

Amanda began her clinical career at Good Shepherd Shelter, serving in organization’s program from 2004-2005. From Good Shepherd, she went on to serve at UC Davis Mental Health Program as a mental health therapist.  She joined CARES, Center for AIDS Research, Education, and Services, in Sacramento rising to the position of Behavioral Health Director.  Just prior to returning to Good Shepherd Shelter, Amanda served as Supervisor of the Psychiatric Response Team for Sutter Health, one of the nation's leading community-based, not-for-profit health care networks of hospitals, physician organizations, home health and hospice agencies and other health care services.

Amanda received a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Loyola Marymount University and master’s in social work from the University of Southern California, School of Social Work.
