MORAGA, Calif. - July 9, 2015 - PRLog -- BDK America, a major Buddhist publisher and translator, announces that it is able to supply copies of The Teaching of Buddha to individuals and selected institutions anywhere in the continental United States, without charge of any kind. "We pay for postage or shipping," says Bill Teague, Manager of Distribution, "and we never solicit donations."

The Teaching of Buddha is a compilation of basic Buddhist teachings as culled from the vast Mahayana canon. Taken almost entirely from the early sutras, the book is applicable across all branches, schools, and sects of Buddhism.

REQUEST YOUR COPY or COPIES HERE

Interested parties are encouraged to learn more and order the book via the website at www.theteachingofbuddha.com. "We created the site to make it easy for folks to learn more and order their copies," Teague said. Alternatively, copies can be requested directly by email to TTOB at BDKAmerica dot ORG, or by mail to BDK America, 1675 School Street, Moraga, CA 94556.

VERY FEW EXCEPTIONS

"We will review each order but except for the geographical limitation to the 49 states in North America, we are almost always able to honor the requests for the book," Teague explained. BDK America reserves the right to consider each request on a case-by-case basis.

INDIVIDUALS, HOTELS, OTHER INSTITUTIONS

BDK America provides copies of its books to individuals and other institutions, often in quantity. Larger orders typically go to schools, temples, and hospitals. But the lion's share of its books go to hotels which use the book as a free spiritual amenity.

SPECIAL FOR HOTELS

Around the world, BDK estimates it has distributed over 8.6 million copies of The Teaching of Buddha in various languages, with the bulk of the copies going to hotel rooms. The book has been distributed by BDK since the 1960s and in the United States since the early 1980s.

Teague said most of his time is spent helping distribute the book to interested hoteliers. "Guests tell the hotel owner they like the book," he said. "They often ask the hotel if they can keep it as a souvenir. We encourage the hotel staff to allow guests to take the book with their compliments. We are always happy to send more."

NEW LOCATIONS ON THE WEB AND ON THE GROUND

Teague said the timing is right to promote its www.theteachingofbuddha.com website. "We recently moved operations to Moraga, California, and the same energy unleashed in that move has led to a higher profile for our websites."

In addition to www.theteachingofbuddha.com, BDK America is testing a beta version of its updated website. The beta version can be linked to from www.bdkamerica.org, he said.

BDK America recently moved headquarters to Moraga, California. "We continue to look for ways to make it easier for individuals to access the teachings," Teague said. The new location is optimized for better use of online resources, he added.

If you are interested in learning about Buddhism, this book is a great start. For me, The Teaching of Buddha was an easy to read introduction Buddhism. I would recommend a moment at a time.

. . .

This is an excellent book on Buddhism. So many of them don't contain the teachings. Many are written in such a way that they don't make sense to an English speaking reader. This is definitely the best primer on Buddha and his teachings.

. . .

[Specific to the Japanese-English edition] The Japanese is easy to understand, and the English and Japanese pages are right next to each other so you can compare passages in each language... I also like the hard cover and smaller size.

. . .

I have been interested in Buddhism for a long time and this book informs me on the beauty of this wonderful way of life! If you are interested this is the perfect book to learn and enjoy.
