Clothbound Announces New Platform for Restaurant Industry Job Search and Recruiting

New app is geared towards helping solve one of restaurant industry’s major problems

BOSTON - July 9, 2015 - PRLog -- Boston, MA-Clothbound (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/clothbound/id981143924?mt=8), a hospitality technology company dedicated to improving the lives of restaurant workers, launched a public beta of its mobile app, a platform for hiring and finding a job in the restaurant industry. The app comes at a time when finding and retaining talent in restaurants is being cited as a top challenge for many restaurant owners and managers. In a recent survey by Nation’s Restaurant News (http://nrn.com/operations/infographic-restaurant-operators-weigh-state-industry), this problem leads the list of challenges operators face in 2015 at 32%.

“The current system of finding a job or an employee via static job boards can feel like a guessing game for everyone involved, and resumes don’t allow for surfacing some important characteristics about a person,” says Eli Feldman, one of the three co-founders of Clothbound. “We’re seeing more and more openings each year; candidates and employers need an efficient way to connect that is more likely to lead to an enriching work experience.”

Clothbound aims to bridge that gap by creating a place for job seekers and the restaurants who want to hire them to connect. This two-sided marketplace adds a new level of efficiency and effectiveness that has previously been unavailable. In place of a resume, Clothbound uses attribute-driven profiles to highlight a candidate’s soft skills, characteristics, and experience and in turn, candidates and restaurants can be matched based on their unique needs and culture. The mobile first, native design enables Clothbound to meet the lifestyle of those working in the industry, who are rarely in front of a computer.

Ana Sortun (http://www.oleanarestaurant.com/team.asp), the James Beard Award-winning chef of Oleana, Sarma, and Sofra, and an early Clothbound adopter says, “Clothbound is a no brainer for us. Hiring is the biggest problem we face in this city and I’m sure in many others.” She adds, “What I think is so cool is how Clothbound has created unique tools for both the candidate and the manager.”

Ana’s are among the 40 Boston-area restaurants who have signed up to be on Clothbound in the first month. These restaurants offer some of the city’s most desired restaurant jobs and positions listed will range from entry level up to experienced management in both the front and back of house. Clothbound is free to join as a job seeker and restaurants can request a subscription by emailing join@clothbound.com.

The team behind Clothbound has experienced the challenges of hospitality job search and recruiting first-hand. Eli Feldman helped grow the well-regarded Barbara Lynch Gruppo team of restaurants from No. 9 Park to eight unique concepts while he was the Director of Operations, often helping hire teams to execute the chef’s vision. Kelly Daigle has worked as a manager under James Beard Award-nominated Garrett Harker at Island Creek Oyster Bar, managing the front of house. Their collective experiences brought them together at Three Princes Consulting, where for over three years they worked with restaurants to improve operations, including hiring. During that time, they met Drew Lewis, who was head of product management at Leaf, a restaurant point-of-sale and analytics platform. Drew’s knowledge of technology and Eli and Kelly’s understanding of the needs of the industry led them to creating this new technology and bringing it to market.
