Douglas Jimerson is renowned for his performances and vocal interpretation of music of 19th century America. From the Kennedy Center to Carnegie Hall, Jimerson has received rave reviews. Douglas Jimerson and the Civil War Comrades have many recordings of Civil War music, including many recordings of Abraham Lincoln's favorite music. Jimerson will provide historical background about the songs during the performance, as he did last year to an enthusiastic audience. Don't miss this special occasion to commemorate the 151st anniversary of the Battle of Ft. Stevens. At this battle, President Lincoln was nearly struck by a bullet from Confederate gunners under the command of General Jubal Early. President Lincoln was splattered by the blood of the surgeon next to him, who was struck by a Confederate bullet intended for the President. See living history presentations and demonstrations. For families, there will be 19th century children's activities.
