National Park Service Presents Douglas Jimerson, Civil War Comrades, 7/11/15, Ft. Stevens, Wash., DC

Douglas Jimerson and the Civil War Comrades will sing and perform songs of the Civil War at Ft. Stevens, 13th and Georgia Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20011, Saturday, July 11, 2015 10 AM-4 PM, for the 151st anniversary of the Battle of Ft. St. Stevens.

WASHINGTON - July 8, 2015 - PRLog -- Bring the family and enjoy familiar American patriotic songs of the Civil War and period folk songs at this event sponsored by the National Park Service. Douglas Jimerson is renowned for his performances and vocal interpretation of music of 19th century America. From the Kennedy Center to Carnegie Hall, Jimerson has received rave reviews. Douglas Jimerson and the Civil War Comrades have many recordings of Civil War music, including many recordings of Abraham Lincoln's favorite music. Jimerson will provide historical background about the songs during the performance, as he did last year to an enthusiastic audience. Don't miss this special occasion to commemorate the 151st anniversary of the Battle of Ft. Stevens. At this battle, President Lincoln was nearly struck by a bullet from Confederate gunners under the command of General Jubal Early. President Lincoln was splattered by the blood of the surgeon next to him, who was struck by a Confederate bullet intended for the President. See living history presentations and demonstrations. For families, there will be 19th century children's activities.
