This Week on Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend: Comedian Jim Florentine

LOS ANGELES - July 6, 2015 - PRLog -- Comedian Jim Florentine’s career has been flourishing of late, having recently appeared on the Season 5 finale episode of the critically-acclaimed TV series Louis and playing a role in the new, highly-anticipated comedy film Trainwreck directed by Judd Apatow and starring Amy Schumer.

Jim (The Howard Stern Show, Crank Yankers) talks with comedian and journalist Alison Rosen on this week’s Monday (July 6^th, 2015) episode of the Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend podcast.

About his role in Trainwreck, which made a big impression at its SXSW premiere in March, Jim tells Alison:

“[I play] a guy that Amy has a one-night stand with. I always get those roles. I always get the jerk-guy roles. (0:05:23) I did a movie a few years back called A Little Help and [the writer] said, ‘When I was writing this part for this guy to be a jerk and have a one night stand with Jenna Fischer I only thought of you for the role. You’re the only one auditioning for it, so don’t mess it up’. (0:05:36)”

But despite the career highs, Jim, who also hosts VH1 Classic’s That Metal Show has been going through hell personally. When Jim last appeared on Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend in May of 2013 he was recently married and talked about the joy of finally finding himself in a healthy relationship after always going for the wrong kind of woman—the kind of woman he would have to “save.”

But that’s all changed.

About his marriage, Jim explains, “It’s over (0:16:55). Somebody wasn’t being faithful, and it wasn’t me. (0:17:18)”

He describes how he recently began to become suspicious of his wife’s cheating, and in order to find out for sure, he hired a private investigator.

“To me, I was like, I have to find out, because I can’t live the rest of my life tossing and turning when I’m on the road or wherever, wondering what’s going on. I’m not going to do that, there’s no way. (0:17:55)”

His discovered his wife was sleeping with a young man she met at CrossFit.

He describes the heartbreaking details of what it feels like to have to split custody of his 4-year-old son.

“When you have a kid at home, and he wakes up and he jumps on you, saying, ‘Dad! Dad! Wake up!’ I want that 7 days a week, not 2 days and every other Sunday. (0:28:00)”

Jim expressed to Alison the level of commitment he felt as a father and husband.

“I didn’t want [my son] to grow up in a broken home (0:34:44). That’s this generation, everybody gets divorced, and nobody has a problem with it. Maybe I’m old school, I don’t know. If I do it once, I’m 100% in. (0:35:00)”

Trainwreck is coming to theaters nationwide July 17^th, and keep an eye out for Jim’s comedy special, called A Simple Man, which will likely be released nearing the fall season of 2015.
