The Global Economy and the Haiti Entrepreneurship Camp

PORT AU PRINCE, Haiti - June 27, 2015 - PRLog -- June 29th, 2015 – Port-au-Prince, Haiti – Mike Veny is once again giving back to the entrepreneurship community. In 2014, he presented a workshop on marketing, sales, and networking at the first annual Haiti Entrepreneurship Camp. A group of global volunteers who are passionately dedicated to improving Haiti’s economy, Veny got the opportunity through meeting Jan Holz of the Rotary Club of Wall Street.

“I was so grateful the chance to be a part of that event. Helping someone grow their business and navigate the obstacles that naturally occur with any growing business is important to me. I’ve been fortunate to have many people who have helped me and continue to do so,” said Veny.

The Haiti Entrepreneurship Camp has a simple vision,

“Exchange knowledge and build relationships with entrepreneurs to turn around struggling economies and empower them to develop prosperous independent communities.”

Since the earthquake that rattled Haiti in 2010, the country has been on an economic rebound, but it is still struggling. Veny understands their plight, and why he is willing to help.

Global Sherpa says that “more than half of Haiti’s population lives in ‘multidimensional poverty,’ meaning these people face constant, acute shortcomings in their health, education, and living standards, according to the 2010 UNDP Human Development Report (HDR).”

“Everyone loves to talk about the health of the global economy,” said Veny, “Through empowering entrepreneurs in the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, we are making tomorrow’s global economy healthier.”

This year, Veny has several roles. He is teaching a workshops on team building, mission statements, and vision. He is also emcee and in charge of the graduation program.

The 2015 Haiti Entrepreneurship Camp will be held at Université Quisqueya in partnership with Rotary Club de Delmas-Aeroport, HelpAlliance, Devoted Servants,Lufthansa Consulting, Lufthansa Group, and local financial support.

Veny is very grateful that camp has such excellent support, but it is only a part of what he thinks is necessary for long term growth of entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship for Haiti and Haitians in general.

“However, it’s important to keep supporting Haiti, even if the results manifest long after your time here on this earth,” said Veny, “which is why I am going to be a part and encouraging as many as possible to help in any way they can.”

Veny will likely have his drums on hand to kick off the camp. A corporate drumming event facilitator, Veny and his drums have worked with companies for staff training and conferences to help build community and within the businesses. “I use drumming as a tool to bring people together,” said Veny.

The Haiti Entrepreneurship camp will take place over 3 weeks in June, July, and August. Additional information about the camp is available at the website, www.Entrepreneurship-Camp.Org.
