Secretary Marylou Sudders Speaks at Lawrence Health Care Event

LAWRENCE, Mass. - June 26, 2015 - PRLog -- On Wednesday, June 24, 2015 Mary Immaculate Health/Care Services and Home Health Foundation co-hosted a professional education program featuring newly appointed Secretary of Health and Human Services Marylou Sudders as keynote speaker.  Secretary Sudders leads the largest executive agency in the state government, a $19.4 billion state budget with 22 thousand public servants and oversees critical services in the Commonwealth.

In her remarks Secretary Sudders described her fiscal year 2016 legislative agenda, provided information about initiatives to reduce Mass Health spending without reducing services and information on efforts to ensure essential services for elders in the Commonwealth are maintained.

“I know that elders across the state have 3 important priorities:  health, resilience and independence” said Sudders.  “We are fortunate that, unlike other states, Massachusetts provides comprehensive health and social services for our elderly.  Under the leadership of our new Secretary of Elder Affairs Alice Bonner, elders and people with disabilities will continue to have opportunities to live well and thrive throughout the Commonwealth.”
