CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - June 25, 2015 - PRLog -- Girls Thinking Global, an organization which connects nonprofits dedicated to supporting adolescent girls and women, will host a panel at ISTE 2015 to discuss the way we can support organizations that are dedicated to shaping the future of girls across the world. In Philadelphia on June 30th, “Spreading the Voice of Adolescent Girls through Technology” will discuss how collaboration can help organizations scale and expand services to empower and educate  the girls and young women that they serve.

The panel discussion will feature Girls Thinking Global board members: Holly Jobe, past president of the Board for ISTE, Ileana Rowe, principal consultant of iRowe & Associates, and Girls Thinking Global president, Deb deVries.

“We live in an interconnected world, so we need to teach our students to be global citizens with global awareness,” said Rowe. “In our session, we will share data on specific challenges faced by adolescent girls and women, with an emphasis on proactive change.”

The effects of the challenging data and triumphant stories are important for attendees to note. To change the way our children learn, educators and parents must actively seek to create a digital age learning culture. By learning about the issues facing adolescent girls globally, and seeing the power of telling stories of excellence, session attendees will learn about ways that they can discuss, support and disseminate best practices through online collaboration and sharing through communities of practice.

“Discussion and collaboration are immensely powerful tools when trying to make change happen,” explained Jobe, “We can leverage the power of connection to influence the way we see the world itself.”

The GTG Collaborative, a cooperative space being developed by Girls Thinking Global, fosters sharing ideas and best practices between nonprofits working with adolescent girls and young women, and allows those organizations to grow and continue to expand their services.

“We are looking forward to an interactive discussion at ISTE,” said deVries. “The issues to be discussed are the challenges that the next generation will face and we know that technology will play a huge role in the way they face these challenges.”

The panel will be held on Tuesday, June 30, from 12:30-1:30, in room 113A of the Philadelphia Conference Center (PCC).
