'Dongmei' trending at #1 film project on Indiegogo

PARSIPPANY, N.J. - June 24, 2015 - PRLog -- "Dongmei" is currently the #1 trending film project on crowdfunding site Indiegogo, according to New York area producer-writer Bob Messinger. The project has raised almost 90 percent of its goal in just 20 days and has 15 days to reach its full $5000 target.

"I know that the trending fluctuates, but it's really a thrill to see us trending on top," says Messinger. "Trending is critical, because it gets us in front of more and more people, giving us the potential to attract so many more supporters."

Heidi Li plays the title character, Dongmei,  whose confrontation with a couple of thugs triggers a psychotic episode, landing her in the psych ward. Li most recently was featured in the soon-to-be-released "The Spectacular Jihad of Taz Rahim." She also stars in the new episodic comedy-drama "Yellow Fever," and she also appears on Chinese TV as a pop culture host and reporter.

"'Dongmei' is more than a dramatic thriller about a Chinese woman walking a thin line between reality and madness," says Messinger. "It's also a powerful reflection on diverse cultural reactions to mental illness and the varied and often devastating effects of those reactions on individuals."

Messinger and director Cedric Hill are bringing "Dongmei" to the screen through a joint production of their companies, Where's the Lake Productions and To and Fro Productions.
