By: iCare Repair Dan Peabody, Lansing resident and owner of iCare Repair, recounts how the business started as a friendly competition. "When my friend's sister's phone broke, he tried to repair it but couldn't. So I told him that I could but he didn't think it was possible." Taking it as a challenge, Peabody found a broken phone to fix, repaired it successfully, and showed it off to his friend. Two months later, an iCare store opened in Okemos, followed by Lansing, Muskegon, Holland, Jackson, North Brighton, and one in Battle Ground, Washington. Each store typically employs a full-time manager, two full-time employees, and two part-time workers. iCare stores provides any form of repair, from hardware to software issues, to devices like smartphones, tablets, and iPods. Refurbished mobile gadgets as well as accessories are also popular merchandise in their stores. According to a study by IBISWorld, the cellphone repair industry has been experiencing strong growth due to the increase of smartphone and data usage. Average annual revenue rate is projected to have a 4.9% increase to total $1.4 bilion. While iCare Repair is taking strategic steps in becoming a key player in the industry in and out of Michigan, it also focuses on delivering what they promise to their customers. "We take pride in our 'speed and price', and we can get most repairs done within 30 minutes," Peabody said. In the next few months, iCare Repair will be focusing on expanding into more locations in Michigan as well as hiring technicians and managers for its new locations. Details about new locations will be made public in September. For more information, visit http://www.icarerepair.com. End
