Asset Protection Attorney And Author Howard Rosen To Present Seminar For The FLAA-CPA

MIAMI - June 24, 2015 - PRLog -- The Florida Association of Attorney-Certified Public Accountants (FLAA-CPA) in conjunction with the Tax Section of the Florida Bar will host author and attorney Howard Rosen during their July chapter meeting, with a theme of creditor liability and asset protection. The program will begin with a lecture titled “Piercing the Veil of LLCs and Corporations” by attorney and Florida State University Professor Steve R. Johnson. Howard Rosen will then close the program with a lecture titled “Special Drafting Considerations for Asset Protection Trusts.” Rosen is a nationally recognized authority on offshore asset protection planning, having lectured on the subject to hundreds of professional organizations.  He has also been featured in articles on asset protection planning by The New York Times, The Huffington Post, and Money Magazine, and a segment on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

The lecture series will be hosted on July 3, 2015, beginning at 2:15pm, at the Amelia Island Plantation (6800 First Hwy, Amelia Island FL). Continuing education credit is available for accountants and attorneys. Interested parties may learn more about the program, and register, at https://www.attorney-cpa.com/eweb/DynamicPage.aspx?Site=A...

The FLAA-CPA is a chapter of the American Association of Attorney-Certified Public Accountants (AAA-CPA), an organization comprised of professionals who are dually-qualified as attorneys and certified public accountants. Rosen believes that dually-qualified professionals are uniquely positioned to offer representation in the area of offshore asset protection planning. “While properly structured offshore trusts are tax neutral, there is significant risk associated with trusts drafted by a novice, who may not take into account certain required provisions necessary to avoid tax liability or penalties” said Howard Rosen, who has served as Chairman of the Asset Protection Committee of the AAA-CPA since 2004. Rosen became a CPA before attending law school at the University of Miami (where he later served for twenty years as an Adjunct Professor of Law). It is now his standard procedure to provide each of his clients with a “tax compliance memorandum” to give to their CPAs. “I speak their language,” says Rosen, referring to other CPAs, “so I understand how to communicate the necessary steps for compliance with treasury regulations pertaining to the reporting of foreign trusts and accounts – forms and procedures that some CPAs have never utilized.”

Rosen is the co-author of the recently published book titled “Asset Protection: A Guide For Professionals.” Covering the techniques necessary to protect different asset classes as well as special planning structures such as entity trusts, group trusts, and enhanced IRA protection, Rosen and co-author Patricia Donlevy-Rosen, Esq., offer an indispensable guide that educates professionals on the steps required to properly implement an effective asset protection structure for their clients. With attention given to fraudulent transfers, state law exemption planning, and selected offshore trust jurisdictions, the book also covers sources of liability exposure, reporting requirements for the United States, and IRS scrutiny of abusive trust arrangements. “Asset Protection: A Guide for Professionals” is available for purchase on Amazon.com.
