Guided Play Games Launches Kickstarter for Its First Board Game – The Golden Beaker

DENVER - June 23, 2015 - PRLog -- Today, Guided Play Games, a company specializing in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) based educational games for children, launched its first Kickstarter to raise funds for The Golden Beaker. The game teaches students eight and up the fundamentals of chemistry. It takes between thirty and sixty minutes to play, and can accommodate two to six players. In the game, students take on the role of one of six scientists. During play, they collect element cards which they later turn in to create molecules.

Erich Wambach, Co-owner of Guided Play games, said, “We did a lot of research to see what types of educational board games were on the market. To our great surprise and disappointment, we found there just wasn’t a lot out there that covered STEM topics. Those games we did find had limited educational value or, worse, were simply not fun to play. We felt this was a niche we were uniquely qualified to fill, and The Golden Beaker felt like the best choice for our first title. It combines a plethora of learning opportunities with game mechanics that are simple enough for students as young as eight to play.”

“The thing that differentiates us from other educational board games is the Parent/Teacher Guide,” Co-owner Graig MacHendrie explained. “It’s at the heart of every game we produce. Like other games, we have an instruction booklet, and we use that to highlight the simplicity and accessibility of our games. However, the Parent/Teacher Guide is the real gem. It delves deeper into the learning opportunities the game offers teachers and parents, and it helps map these skills to standard curriculums.”

Guided Play Games is the brainchild of Graig MacHendrie and Erich Wambach. Graig brings nineteen years of educational experience teaching a variety of subjects, while Erich has ten years experience designing and manufacturing board games. Both share a passion for finding innovative tools to engage and educate children.
