Follow on Google News | Druxman Dazzles With Dinah ShoreBy: BearManor Media Albany, Ga. – BearManor Media announces the release of Miss Dinah Shore by Michael B. Druxman. Dinah’s fifty-year love affair with audiences began when she sang on Old Time Radio and performed and sang on recordings with the Xavier Cugat orchestra. She signed a contract with RCA Victor Records in 1950, charting with eighty popular song hits, including “Yes, My Darling Daughter” (selling more than 500,000 copies within weeks), and #1 hits, such as "Blues In the Night,” “Jim,” “You’d Be So Nice To Come Home To," and "I'll Walk Alone.” From Eddie Cantor’s 1940 radio show, Time to Smile, to her own 1943 radio show, Call to Music, she moved to Columbia Records and achieved her biggest hit records, including “Shoo Fly Pie And Apple Pan Dowdy,” “Buttons and Bows” with Henri René and Orchestra, “The Gypsy," and “The Anniversary Song.” One of her most popular hits was the 1949 "Baby, It's Cold Outside." From 1943 to 1980, Dinah appeared in fifteen Hollywood films. On American television in 1949, she made her official television show debut on The Ed Wynn Show. In 1951, she headlined The Dinah Shore Show on NBC, and in 1956, won the first of her many Emmy Awards. The Dinah Shore Chevy Show ran through the 1961–1962 season, and over twelve seasons from 1951 to 1963, she appeared in at least 125 hour-long programs and 444 fifteen-minute shows. Many called her “The First Lady of Television.” Author Michael Druxman’s years of research leads you on a remarkable journey through Dinah’s struggle against overwhelming odds as a Jewish girl growing up in the Deep South and suffering an early bout with polio. The men in her life—husband George Montgomery, Frank Sinatra, Burt Reynolds, and other clandestine relationships, were the fodder of tabloids, but she survived. 24 photos.
