Grand Arena Develops New Concept for Tabletop Gaming Business

TAMPA, Fla. - June 22, 2015 - PRLog -- Grand Arena of Mind Expansion (GAME) welcomed gamers this past weekend during their grand opening of the Tampa business.  The action-packed two day event invited gamers and their families inside their 4,600 square foot facility to participate in tabletop and role playing games.

Over the last 10 years, interest in tabletop games has grown in popularity.  There has been record setting attendance at GenCon, Indianapolis, which is considered the largest gaming convention in the world.  Dice Tower Convention in Orlando, another popular gaming venue, sold out of their tickets within days of the tickets opening for sale.  Although gamers like to come together in public meeting areas such as game stores and restaurants, there is a constant battle to keep these businesses profitable.  Game stores rely on customers to buy from them; however customers recently started buying games cheaper through on-line distributors.  To try to offset this revenue loss, the game stores pack as many gamers into the store as possible for tournaments and general gaming, utilizing folding tables and chairs and charging for snacks and drinks.  Several games stores in the area have recently closed due to the lack of sales revenue.   For restaurants, the businesses are often crowded and noisy.  The restaurants need to turn the tables quickly in order to make a profit. Players also have issues with the tables being sticky and damaging their games.

Grand Arena of Mind Expansion (GAME) opened to counteract these issues with a different business concept.  Grand Arena is a social game club which has a multitude of activities for gamers and their families to partake.   The facility offers members the ability to pick the optimal setting for their friendly tabletop completion, proving 8 private rooms and a large common gaming area complete with large tables and comfortable business style chairs.  The facility also provides 2 rooms with Xbox, Wii, and PS4 gaming.  There is a children’s room which can run children’s movies, another larger movie room offering theater-style entertainment, and a break room which is fully stocked with snacks and drinks.  Instead of relying on sales of merchandise to support the business, Grand Arena collects membership and facility fees and then everything within the facility is complimentary, including the snacks and drinks. These fees are similar to what an individual would pay going out to dinner or to a movie.  One member was overheard saying that Grand Arena was like “a country club for gamers”.

“This facility was designed for gamers by gamers and we want to constantly improve it through the suggestions of our customers,” stated Michael Levin, President of the Grand Arena. "The venue is the ideal location for members to bring the whole family to explore new games, meet new people, and kick back and relax for an evening.  We hope to offer enough for every family member, whether they like gaming or not, so that this can be an enjoyable night out for everyone.”

The Grand Opening event featured guided tours of the facility and members had the opportunity to play games with the staff or watch movie marathons.  Members were also entered into a drawing and had the opportunity every hour to win a day or evening pass which would allow free entrance into the club.
