At each station, environmentally- The Subietown Color 5K raised approximately $17,000 for Special Olympics Indiana. Lynn Noble, Special Olympics Indiana Board Member spoke at the opening ceremony about how the money raised will help support Special Olympics Indiana and the many athletes that compete throughout the state. Andrew Peterson delivered a poignant keynote speech about his journey as a Special Olympics athlete. With the support of his father, Peterson developed into an accomplished distance runner and won over 50 gold medals in state competitions and three gold medals at last year’s Special Olympics National Games in New Jersey. Peterson was named the 2014 Outstanding Self-Advocate for The Arc of Indiana and 2015 Special Olympics Indiana Athlete of the Year. “Special Olympics Indiana is an outstanding organization that has a positive impact on the lives of thousands of Hoosiers,” stated SIA’s Executive Vice President, Tom Easterday. “SIA is proud to support all the athletes that participate in Special Olympics across Indiana by hosting this fun 5k event. The Subietown Color 5k is a great event for a great cause, and we look forward to hosting it again next year.” The 2nd Annual Subietown Color 5K will be held next summer.
