ST. CHARLES, Ill. - June 18, 2015 - PRLog -- The Ovarian Cancer Symptom Awareness organization (OCSA) will host its 3rd annual Golf Tournament and Dinner to benefit the ongoing awareness campaign on Monday, June 22 at Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, Illinois. Kane County Sheriff’s Police Deputy Nicholas Wolf has been with the Sheriff’s Department since 2000 and assigned to the K9 Unit since 2002.  He serves as an Assistant Team Leader for Kane County Multi-jurisdictional SWAT and is the Chairman of the Illinois Tactical Officers Association K9 Committee.  He is currently working a patrol / narcotics detection K9 (Tyront) which he trained and is working the first and only Police Bloodhound (Erin) in Kane County.

The fun filled day will include a putting contest, 18 holes of golf; lunch and dinner, unique at-the-hole entertainment including lager tasting with Pheasant Run Ringneck Red Lager; Spa Vargas Chair Massages and raffles for Jonathan Toews & Paul Konerko signed Jerseys provided by Auction Merchandise Source. The silent auction includes two Blackhawks Adirondack chairs, Invisible Fence Brand Gift Basket, Cyrano’s Café on the River Walk Degustation Dinner for 4 and much more.

Event co-chairs, Carolyn Ascher and Dr. Kurt Klepitsch, coordinated the charity golf tournament to raise funding for the Veterinary Outreach Program (VOP), with key partners in the veterinary community, the Illinois Health Department and the One Health Commission. The VOP informs urban and rural veterinarians, veterinary clinicians, and veterinary discipline students about ovarian cancer and its silent symptoms.

Statistics show that ovarian cancer is diagnosed in one of every 55 women and is the number one gynecologic cancer killer. More than 22,000 women are diagnosed with this cancer every year. The VOP exponentially spreads awareness surrounding the silent symptoms of this disease through the conversations pet owners have with their trusted veterinarians, important public health protectors.
