L.A. Earthquake Preparedness Campaign Launches Independently by Local Student

LOS ANGELES - June 17, 2015 - PRLog -- Description: This release provides information about a new social media campaign, QuakeSafe LA, and it’s creator, local student Nicholas Valdivia.

LOS ANGELES, CA 6/17/15 – Los Angeles native and local advertising student, Nicholas Valdivia, has developed and launched a social media campaign titled QuakeSafe LA entirely independent. The campaign was created to support the U.S. Ad Council’s nationwide Emergency Preparedness campaign with a localized approach specific to the danger of earthquakes facing Los Angeles residents. The campaign, launched on June 16, 2015, encourages L.A. residents to be prepared for the next quake and directs them to resources such as earthquake kit and safety information at www.ready.gov/earthquakes. The campaign, developed as part of a school project, is aligned with Nicholas’ personal career goals to develop campaigns that promote social justice and wellbeing.

The campaign has drawn the attention of the U.S. Ad Council’s western region managing director, John Boal as well as Ken Kondo of the Los Angeles County Office of Emergency Management. Being a graphic designer, Mr. Valdivia has taken images of various Los Angeles landmarks, simulated a shaking effect that would occur during an earthquake, and uploaded these images with the headline “Be Prepared” and hashtag “#QuakeSafeLA” for residents to repost and share online.

The campaign has been launched on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Google+. The primary page for the campaign can be found at www.facebook.com/quakesafeLA where graphics, information, and a video can be found.

With this campaign, Nicholas intends to increase the preparedness of L.A. residents, make connections with media professionals, and promote himself as a young professional.
