Wndy City Gay Chorus and Windy City Treble Quire present "When You Believe" Pride Concert
Windy City Performing Arts in collaboration with Youth Empowerment Performance Project presents "When You Believe"
From the days of the Stonewall riots up to the present fight for marriage equality, the LGBTQ movement has been propelled by dreams of a brighter future. When You Believe takes a musical look at some of the landmark dreams we still want to achieve. Highlights include a song by Sondheim, a thrilling piece about Harvey Milk, and a most delightful arrangement of Over the Rainbow.
When You Believe will also feature a collaboration with The Youth Empowerment Performance Project. YEPP is a company for and of LGBTQ youth who are experiencing homelessness. Using pyschotherapy to explore their personal journeys and struggles, they create performance art (drama and dance) to stimulate emotional healing. Celebrating 36 Lyrical Years, WCPA is Chicago's premier LGBTQ choral arts organization encompassing Windy City Gay Chorus and Windy City Treble Quire. WCPA celebrates diversity, honors creativity and cultivates pride through the transformative power of music and the arts.
Performances of When You Believe are Saturday, June 20 at 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Lutheran Church (1650 W. Foster Ave., Chicago, IL).
