Ocean State Job Lot TV Advertising Campaign Puts Wide Variety of Merchandise in the Spotlight

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. - June 15, 2015 - PRLog -- NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. and BOSTON (June 11, 2015):  A new television campaign has been launched by Ocean State Job Lot, a 117-store closeout retailer with locations throughout New England, New York and New Jersey. The advertisements are running in the Providence, Hartford, Springfield and Boston television markets through July 6, 2015.

For the campaign, two new 30-second commercial spots were produced by Boston-based advertising agency MMB (http://www.mmb580.com/) to highlight the variety of merchandise that is available for shoppers at Job Lot stores.  The first spot produced, called “Piñata” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8dEBdB1crU), features an Ocean State Job Lot-branded paper mache piñata from which seemingly hundreds of products – including a Job Lot store associate for additional humorous effect – spill out onto a homeowner’s deck during a cookout.  The second spot, called “Bag” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rx0WqC8DR3g), features a husband coming home after shopping at Job Lot with a bag that accidentally rips, dropping enough products to completely fill his home and then spill out of the chimney from the roof.



Using the narrated tagline ‘So much for so little,’ the ads are intended to create awareness that Job Lot carries everything people need for summer at a fraction of regular retail prices.  “Our shoppers appreciate the bargains we provide on brand-name items, several of which are highlighted at the end of each TV spot.  This time of year, customers are visiting our stores to purchase pool chemicals and supplies, gazebos, zero-gravity chairs, beach umbrellas, and lots of other seasonal merchandise,” states Paul Conforti, who spearheads the campaign for Ocean State Job Lot. “The fact that we have so many seasonally relevant items really comes across well with these ads and helps to remind our customers of this as they are making the decision where to shop.”

Supported by radio advertising, print circulars, updated web content and a digital/social media component, the Ocean State Job Lot integrated marketing campaign aims to convey a smart reason to shop at the stores now.  “Anyone in New England who endured the long, cold winter we all experienced can rest assured we’ve got the stuff they need to enjoy the spring and summer months,” adds Mr. Conforti who notes that brand-name items available for purchase at Job Lot include Burpee® seeds, Blue Rhino® gas grills, Future Beach® kayaks, and EZ-Up® gazebos.

“These spots are a natural continuation of our ‘crazy deals’ campaign Job Lot has run for the last couple of years,” said MMB Chief Marketing Officer Liz Vanzura. “Ocean State Job Lot provides a wide variety of high quality products, from household goods and food items to pool and garden supplies, all at unbelievable deals.  Our goal is to raise top of mind awareness in a very fun and entertaining way.”
