SAN FRANCISCO - June 13, 2015 - PRLog -- As the self-proclaimed Tinder for Better People, the socially conscious dating app, Neqtr, has made a bold move in becoming invitation only this week. It also has officially launched on Android, a long-awaited release for many.

Neqtr helps people find love based on health conscious, socially conscious or creative interests. Causes and interests are listed as icons on each profile, so it’s worn like a badge of honor. While existing Neqtr members will remain, new users will need to apply via the website or receive a personal invitation from Neqtr in order to bypass the application process.

Neqtr will qualify applicants by asking them to demonstrate what causes and interests they’re passionate about, in order to filter out those potentially looking for shallow, short term fun.

What other apps have attempted to solve with random novelty or algorithms, Neqtr is solving based on ongoing feedback directly from real singles. From bi-weekly focus groups to interviewing people on the street, Neqtr has been on a mission to “hack” dating to finally create a solution to the top online dating disappointments.

“What we consistently kept hearing is that singles, particularly women, are disappointed with the quality of people they hear from on dating apps. Women say they get bombarded with messages, causing any potential "good guys" to fall through the cracks. Similarly, quality men are frustrated they don't receive responses from the women they like. In short, good guys don’t get a fair shot despite how much they have to offer. We’re aiming to solve for that.” says marketing manager, Mariela De La Mora.

Until now, it has been a losing battle on both sides. That’s why Neqtr is taking an active role in quality assurance, helping those who want long term relationships to find a person with similar positive interests – whether they volunteer, run marathons, cook healthy meals, or do yoga in their backyard.

CEO Sonya Davis explains: "I decided it had to be invite only because we want to ensure we attract the right audience. We're not Tinder, and we don't want to be. Our members are looking for more. As a woman, I've been on too many bad dates and I'm over it. Actions speak louder than words, that's why we offer planned dates – so our members could see if their matches have passions and interest in more than just themselves."

The idea is that people looking for a fun fling already have plenty of options, so they are less likely to go through the effort of applying.

Sonya says, "We are ultimately hacking dating but providing an innovative solution to help people find love. It’s tough not to be jaded by dating apps these days, but we believe in love and changing the face of dating for good."
