Painting Valued at Over $20,000 Discovered at St. Vincent de Paul Villages Donation Center

SAN DIEGO - June 10, 2015 - PRLog -- A John Fery painting valued at $20,000 has been discovered at the St. Vincent de Paul Villages Donation Center. The title of the painting is unknown, but it has been identified as an original created by the historic artist. The painting is being auctioned off as part of the St. Vincent de Paul Villages Specialty Auction hosted online via CalAuctions.com.

Every day thousands of items are donated to St. Vincent de Paul Village to be sold in their retail stores or put up for auction at the warehouse located close to downtown San Diego. The majority of items are everyday household goods and furniture, however, the best donations including collectibles, vintage, and antique items are reserved for the Specialty Auction. Proceeds go to support the homeless in San Diego.

The large landscape oil painting by Fery was grouped together with other regular artwork, but one of the warehouse managers took a liking to the large wood frame. Upon investigation, it was discovered that painting was created by John Fery (1859-1934), a famous artist known for his works of the western United States.

Fery was born in Hungary and received formal art training in Vienna, Munich, and Düsseldorf. He traveled and explored the U.S. leading hunting expeditions for European sportsmen before being commissioned by The Great Northern Railway company to create paintings that promoted Glacier National Park.

Many of Fery’s original paintings have been auctioned or sold ranging in price between $5,000-$56,000 and more.

The rare painting is being auctioned online through Cal Auctions & Estate Sales, a local online auction company that has hosted the bi-monthly Specialty Auction for the past two years.
