WEST DEPTFORD, N.J. - June 9, 2015 - PRLog -- The Gloucester County Italian Heritage Commission announced that the 12th Annual Italian Heritage Festival of Gloucester County will be held on October 4, 2015, rain or shine, from 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. on the grounds of the Riverwinds Community Center in West Deptford, NJ. The planning committee estimates attendance of 8,000-10,000 people from throughout the tri-state area.

Fashioned after an Italian street fair, the Italian Heritage Festival promises a day of family fun and a great opportunity to experience authentic Italian culture, with entertainment featuring the likes of La Fata Italiana (the Italian Fairy), a favorite of “kids” of all ages and more.

The Commission is seeking food vendors, craft vendors, artisans and exhibitors to participate in the festival. Interested food vendors should contact nickmitcho@yahoo.com for an application. Other vendors should contact Danielle at GCItaly@yahoo.com.

Nino Apadula, of Gianino's Pastries of Washington Township, explains, "We love being vendors at the annual Italian Heritage Festival… And while we're having fun, our table is always crowded and we connect with lots of new customers.”

Traditionally held on the last Sunday of September, this year’s festival was moved to October, which is also National Italian Heritage Month, due to the Pope’s visit to Philadelphia on September 26-27.

The Commission hosts the festival to promote Italian traditions and culture. Its primary mission is preserving the Italian language and each year provides scholarship awards to students studying the language.

For general information about the festival, visit facebook.com/GCItalian or call Caterina Dawson at 856.467.0096.

The Gloucester County Italian Heritage Commission was formed in 2007 with the mission of preserving and promoting traditional Italian culture and to encourage the study of the Italian language. The Festival is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, and the GC Cultural & Heritage Commission at Rowan College at Gloucester County.
