Follow on Google News | DogSmith of Hunterdon Highlights Different Aspects of Responsible Dog Ownership through Fun PoopeTo help promote a sense of community and awareness to responsible pet ownership, The DogSmith of Hunterdon, hosts “Scoop the Poop” game at Bark in the Park.
By: The DogSmith Bark in the Park is an annual event that has a 1-mile dog walk around scenic Flemington. There were vendors from local businesses on hand that offer products and services as well as contests with categories ranging from Best trick to Owner/Dog Look-a-Like. All net proceeds go to local pet rescue organizations and Rotary Charities. Fahey says, “At the DogSmith of Hunterdon, we take care of both ends of the leash. We teach pet parents, through our positive, force free training program, how to get the behaviors they want so their dog is a well-mannered member of the family as well as provide unrivaled pet care services such as pet sitting and dog walking. And yes, we pick up doody while we fulfill our duties. The “Scoop the Poop” game was a fun way to educate everyone about the importance of cleaning up after your dog. It’s not only a courtesy to others, but there are also health risks. Diseases such as roundworms, giardia and even salmonella can be transmitted through dog feces. Contrary to what most people think, dog poop does not just disintegrate. Rain can carry into sewers, streams and rivers”. Fahey adds, “Don’t worry, all the poop used for the game was made of rubber.” Each winner took home a dog toy, a $10 gift card for The DogSmith of Hunterdon and, of course, poop bags with a poop bag holder.
