Rackemann Attorney Lauren Armstrong Assists Caritas Communities

BOSTON - June 8, 2015 - PRLog -- On June 4^th, 2015, Rackemann attorney Lauren Armstrong participated in a “Spring Clean-Up Service Day” benefiting Caritas Communities. Lauren participated in the service day along with twenty other volunteers from CREW Boston, New England’s largest professional organization of women in the commercial real estate industry.

Caritas Communities is Greater Boston’s largest non-profit provider of permanent veteran and single room occupancy housing. The organization serves the housing needs of low-income individuals in the Boston Area through the development and long term management of affordable rooming houses. Caritas provides low-income residents safe, clean, and stable housing in 895 rooms in 29 buildings. By rehabilitating existing properties and building on vacant land, Caritas aims to improve neighborhoods while also continuing to fulfill its core mission.

The service day was planned and coordinated through the Community Involvement Committee and was a continuation of a service day performed last Fall in the Dorchester area. This June, the group from CREW Boston helped to rehabilitate Caritas’ residence at 27 Beale Street in Dorchester. The home, located immediately adjacent to the Ashmont MBTA Station, houses veterans and low income individuals in eleven furnished rooms. The volunteers performed tasks such as replanting the home’s garden, repainting areas of the house’s exterior and interior, much needed minor renovations and repairs, and decorating.
