ATLANTA - June 5, 2015 - PRLog -- Produkt, the popular Puerto Rican rapper from Bronx, releases new EP album cover and first record "SPIC" off upcoming EP “in·con·spic·u·ous”, due to release, June 16th. The word "SPIC" is a slur but he is flipping it into a powerful acronym, Spanish, People, In, Control. The first record he will release "SPIC" addresses the same issues that plague black people including police brutality. The cover conceals the identity of 4 children, which is a reflection of how many hispanics have to live with the lack of identity here in America. In America, hispanics are often referred to as a SPIC, a highly offensive term referring to a Spanish-speaking person from Mexico, Central or South America, Spain, or Portugal, by other races and ethnicities.

Every up & coming rapper of Hispanic descent is usually compared to Big Pun. Regardless of flow, lyrical ability or content; that rapper is in a battle against a ghost and it is not fair. Many Puerto Rican rappers have come in the game through the years and despite that, Pun has become this universal standard for Latin rappers to reach. Even the promotion is not the same for Latin hip hop artists. Every year XXL compiles a list of rappers they consider “the next big thing” and put them on the cover of that issue’s magazine. This has happened every year since 2007, with the exception of 2008, and guess how many rappers that are Latino made the cover?  Produkt is working hard to change the face of his industry in the latino community. He says his aim is to put Puerto Rico back on the map in hip-hop.

Produkt is a 5x Underground Music Award winner and Billboard Charting (Hot 100 Hot Singles), whose “one fan at a time” grassroots philosophy has netted him hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube and over 1.2 million online video views over numerous blog sites. Produkt’s two year long ascent to notoriety accelerated in 2014 when he released two hit singles: “Hold it Down” and “Freak Affair.” “Hold it Down” caught the attention of well-respected music critics as well, and has been nominated for UMA’s Best Video and Song of the Year honors.
