By: Alan Joshua By Denis Vukosav TOP 100 REVIEWER on June 1, 2015 Though I will not disclose the plot of this story more than author decided to do in short description, I would only say that those who at first glance expect this book to be a classic sci-fi saga or a thriller set in a different environment, will be probably equally surprised as I was, because the novel offers much more than one would expect. Its story would start when a secret Russian mind research laboratory will explode, leaving complete havoc behind, together with many questions why and what happened at all. The reader is going to meet a parapsychologist named Beau Walker who will become part of a research project, code-named SHIVA that for its goal has the investigation of recent catastrophe. But both Walker and the whole team will be drawn into the alternate realities, in same time risking their own lives and the fate of whole humanity… Alan Joshua with his debut succeeds in making a well-made novel, creating an untypical story and the intriguing world, combining SF, mystery and thriller motives. The author especially made a good job when it comes to the development of story making impossible for reader to guess in which direction the story will continue while the end of novel is nearing. Therefore, with ‘The SHIVA Syndrome’ Alan Joshua managed to overcome my expectations, kept me intrigued until the very end and because of that I can heartily recommend his title to the general audience.
