Judging was in areas of originality, character development, structural underpinnings and plot machinations, as well as cover design. Other genres, for example poetry and children’s books, had qualifying criteria pursuant to excellence in those groupings. “We’re very thankful for all the participants and judges this year,” said Beth Adams of Pacific Book Awards.
