WOOLWICH, MAINE:  NEMT President Linda Allard, CHPS, and IT Director Andrew Clarke were recently chosen by the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity to be among the featured presenters at the association’s annual Convention and Expo in Alexandria, Va.

Allard and Clarke are nationally-known presenters who have spoken previously for conventions and webinars. During AHDI's national conference, ACE, they will speak on “The Telecommuter’s Survival Guide,” which will teach medical transcriptionists working from home how to secure personal health information.

Allard will speak from her experience and expertise as a CHPS (Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security) specialist, focusing on compliance with federal HIPAA regulations. Clarke will focus on computer security in his role as NEMT’s information technology expert.

“When you work in an office, most security and encryption issues are handled for you,” Allard said. “Those of us who work from home have to set up and protect our own computers and email systems without running afoul of patient privacy regulations. It’s not difficult if you know the exact specifications and steps and that’s what we’ll be discussing in our presentation.”
