NEW YORK - June 2, 2015 - PRLog -- Friday July 3rd, The Pledge Anti-Bully Movement invites comic book fans from all over the world to attend The League of Comic Creators Convention aka Locccon. The outdoor festival will be held in Carmel, NY at the Putnam County Veterans Memorial Park from 2pm – 9pm.

Locccon invites cosplayers, video gamer players, graphic novelists, toy sculptors, pop artists and EDM DJs to participate in a day of solidarity against bullying. The aim of the project is to address and resolve the internet chatter about the perceived “value” of cosplayers within the convention scene. The thought is that cosplayers are changing the convention experience for the worse (as per some graphic illustrators). They feel that there aren’t any intentions of paying homage to the actual illustrators during a time that is intended to showcase the contributions to the graphic arts community.  They wonder if cosplayers are only using the cons as an excuse to monetize their appearances by posing for photos (and sometimes in the direct paths of the artists’ booths).  Cosplayers rebut by saying, “We love and respect the amazing artists that create the characters that we attempt to portray. We put a lot of time and effort into these costumes by replicating every little detail in hopes of bringing illustrations to life for other people to enjoy.  If we are truly not welcomed in that convention space then we will find a place where we are appreciated”, exclaimed an anonymous internet poster.

The Locccon tour transforms minor league baseball stadiums and large scale county-owned parks into an outdoor meetup for cosplayers in the style of a traditional music & gaming festival. Activities range from super-soaker contests, giant slip-n-slides, comic book displays, toy displays, Magic the Gathering, advice & counselor tents, musical performances, cosplay reenactments, corporate sponsored activation tents and free food & non-alcoholic beverages. Fans are also treated to a pre-festival meet & greet a week before the event on June 27th at the Rye Playland Amusement Park. This is to further bring awareness to bullying in a family-friendly and fun environment.
