SALEM, Ore. - June 1, 2015 - PRLog -- On May 1, Mercedes announced that the automaker realized a record first quarter and record sales for the month of April. Sales generated by the Mercedes-Benz brand increased by 12.8 percent in comparison to April 2014. Moreover, sales for their Sprinter division increased by more than 15 percent from April 2014. More than 29,000 Mercedes-Benz brand vehicles were sold during the month. Overall, the automaker’s sales increased 10.6 percent higher than in April 2014, totaling more than 32,400 units sold.

In the year-to-date, sales for Mercedes increased by around 8.2 percent—totaling more than 117,000 units by the end of April. More than 107,000 of these units were 2015 Mercedes brand passenger vehicles, as sales increased by 9 percent year-to-date. The top-selling passenger vehicles during April were the M-, C- and E-Class models. Sales for the 2015 Mercedes C-Class led all other models and increased by more than 30 percent from a year ago. If these trends continue, 2016 Mercedes vehicles may continue to lead sales among the luxury automakers.

As of 2015, Mercedes offers drivers 14 different vehicles, the most of any luxury brand manufactured by an automaker. The M-Class was the 2015 Mercedes highest seller among light trucks, with sales increasing by more than 29 percent from the year before. Sales for the G-Class SUV increased by over 9 percent, and the 1,119 AMG units sold during the month represented an 11.2 percent increase from April 2014. A chief executive at Mercedes expects the release of the AMG GT S and Maybach S600 to help fuel growth in the high-performance and luxury markets throughout the remainder of the year.

Mercedes-Benz delivered more than 9,300 certified pre-owned vehicles during the month, while over 37,800 have been delivered year-to-date. The successful sales trend announced by Mercedes-Benz is something that’s become common among many manufacturers this year; auto sales in the U.S. increased by more than 4 percent in April, totaling more than 5.1 million units sold for the month. Mercedes-Benz is currently leading all premium brands in sales during the month and year-to-date. As of April 2015, the automaker accounts for slightly over 2 percent of the national market share.

The 2016 Mercedes models will offer motorists the choice of several different plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. The automaker plans to have at least 10 different PHEV models available through 2017, including the 2016 Mercedes C-Class. More than 6,600 units of the 2015 Mercedes C-Class vehicles were sold during April, and more than 27,600 have been sold year-to-date. The 2016 Mercedes vehicles may soon be in position to gain market share in the hybrid segment if the automaker’s sales growth continues.
