NEW YORK - June 1, 2015 - PRLog -- The Multiple Sclerosis Foundation (www.msfocus.org) teamed up with EHE International to unveil its latest awareness campaign this month with a window display at Rockefeller Plaza. The window will reach almost 250,000 people per day and features a collage of people living with MS along a nerve tree alongside the campaign slogan “Help Keep Our Connections Strong #4MSF.”

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic neurological disorder where the immune system destroys the protective covering of nerves, disrupting the transmission of messages that communicate a desired action from the brain, through the spinal cord, to various parts of the body.

The course of the disease varies greatly from person to person. Common symptoms of MS include fatigue, weakness, spasticity, balance problems, bladder and bowel problems, numbness, vision loss, tremors and depression.

As there are a string of powerful stories coming from patients, families and friends connected to MS, the concept for the Rockefeller window aims to connect two people who are living with multiple sclerosis every day. Implementing a 'pen-pal' method of communication, throughout the month of June, MSF will send a participant’s a photo and brief bio to someone else living with MS, allowing them each to deliver words of encouragement to each other. These exchanges between MS patients will create an emotional gateway into the real lives of people and will be presented on a video stream in the center of the window, highlighting notions of encouragement and positivity.

“MSF is proud to display this new campaign for the thousands who visit Rockefeller Plaza each day,” said MSF Development Director, Nathalie Sloane. “No one should have to live with this debilitating disease and ever feel alone. This campaign will give rise to a global sense of community for those living with MS, and aligns greatly with the values of MSF, to provide physical, emotional, and social support for those affected by MS. MSF strives to ensure the best quality of daily life for those coping with MS through implementation of an extensive array of patient services.”

All MSF services are free of charge. Some programs are needs-based and dependent on income and other factors; other programs are available to all individuals affected by MS.

Please make a difference and help expand MSF's national outreach through this campaign or program sponsorship, fundraising events, annual giving and inclusion in your estate planning.
