The Soul of Nina Simone, Icon of American Music

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - June 1, 2015 - PRLog -- WHAT:On Wednesday, June 24th, 2015, Beat Brasserie, located in Cambridge’s Harvard Square, presents a tribute to the acclaimed vocalist Nina Simone with cuisine, libations and live entertainment. Join Beat for this celebration of an American icon as Raquel Quinones takes the stage for a night of scintillating performances!

The event pays homage to Nina Simone, one of the most extraordinary artists of the twentieth century and an icon of American music. She was the consummate musical storyteller who used her remarkable talent to create a legacy of liberation, empowerment, passion, and love through a magnificent body of works.  Simone earned the moniker ‘High Priestess of Soul’ for she could weave a spell so seductive and hypnotic that the listener lost track of time and space as they became absorbed in the moment.

Be there when the music starts and the spirit of Simone comes alive at 8:00PM. The evenings featured artist will be the talented Raquel Quinones, a young singer whose skill is shaped by her bright, smooth tone and her innovative and emotional delivery of tunes ranging in style, from jazz to bolero, from soul to pop.

The night’s music will be complemented by the culinary contributions of Executive Ignacio Lopez from 8PM to 12AM. Guests are welcome for a full dinner with selections such as Grilled Lamb Chops with Hot Feta, Wild Broccoli and Toasted Couscous ($35), the Earth Bowl with a choice of protein, 5-Grain Pilaf, charred broccoli salad, rainbow carrots, chickpea tomato stew, arugula pesto & more ($23-27), and Roasted Diver Scallops with Squid Ink Pasta, Crab, Leeks and Tomato ($32).  Guests can also indulge with one of the many wines Beat Brasserie has on tap such as the Summerland Vineyard Pinot Grigio, Flying Cloud Sauvignon Blanc, or the Qupe Vineyard Chardonnay while they enjoy the show.
