New help for women returners to work in North Devon

BARNSTAPLE, U.K. - May 29, 2015 - PRLog -- Women in North Devon who are returning to work after a break, are being offered new help to get back into the workplace.  The Back 4 Business programme starts with a day-long event from 9.30 am – 3 pm on Monday 8^th June, at the Business Hub on the Pottington Business Park in Barnstaple. Further workshops will take place on 26^th June and 1^st, 7^th, 16^th and 21^st July.

“The programme is particularly aimed at women who are thinking of starting their own businesses, after being away from the workplace for a while,” said Jan Spencer, Director and founder of Women’s Development Unlimited, which is running the training. “We often see women who have taken a break from work returning to low paid, unfulfilling jobs because this allows them to work flexible hours. But by running their own business they can do a job that they enjoy, that is also flexible, and may even allow them to earn more.

“The training and support we are offering through the Back 4 Business programme will give women the business know-how and training they need to set up a business. They will also be able to access one to one mentoring and coaching, and gain help with self-confidence, as this can be an issue for some women who have been out of the workplace for a while. This is a programme that has been designed by women for women to help them get the kind of work they really want.”

Women’s Development Unlimited has acquired funding from the Royal Bank of Scotland’s Inspiring Women Programme, allowing the Back 4 Business course of workshops to be offered at a heavily subsided price for participants, just £45 per person.

The Back 4 Business programme has recently run in Bude in North Cornwall, where it was well supported. One of the participants, Julie Broughton from Bude, who is setting up her own counselling business, explained what she liked about the workshops. “The sessions were good, all useful and inspiring, with a wealth of practical information and advice.  The presenters made the workshops interesting and varied and I now understand my own motivations better.  It was good to meet other women from a variety of backgrounds with common interests.”
