TABAQ Sponsored Golf Day in Aid of Cancer Research UK

BERKSHIRE, U.K. - May 28, 2015 - PRLog -- Tabaq Golf Day 2015 was held on Thursday 14^th of May at one of the best golf courses in Berkshire, Sand Martins Golf Club.  The event was organised in aid of Cancer Research UK and helped create awareness of cancer and raise valuable funds.

The day started with a golf clinic which provided a quick health check and personalised coaching to players.  The clinic was delivered by Sand Martin’s head professional Dan who made sure that the players left feeling excited and positive looking forward to the round ahead.  In return, the players donated a few pounds each to the charity.

The clinic was followed by a warm welcome by Tabaq Technologies CEO, Sultan Noori who thanked the players for taking part in the charity golf day and the sponsors for making the event possible.  In his speech, Sultan Noori said, “Cancer has effected the lives of our loved ones and for some of us, taken our loved ones away.  Let us try and create awareness of cancer, have fun today and raise funds for Cancer Research UK.  Hopefully we can make a difference in the lives of others.”

All the elements were in place, beautiful Berkshire course, players excited and ready to go out, sponsor signage on tee boxes, Tesco goody bags distributed but weather was the only element that could not be tailored.  The entire week had been sunny and warm but heavens decided to open on Thursday the 14^th of May.  However, that did not dampen the spirits of the golfers who had gathered for the great cause for Cancer Research UK.

Tabaq Charity Golf Day 2015 officially began with the opening tee shot by the host, Sultan Noori.  The groups followed in 10 minute intervals to compete for the single’s trophy, winning team prize, nearest to the pin and longest drive prizes.  Not only that, a beat the pro competition was organised at the 12^th par 3 hole which proved an instant hit with the players and helped raise extra cash for the charity.  The entire event was photographed by Emma Ferguson who followed the golfers around the picturesque course in her welly’s carrying her Nikon gear and a brolly.  Emma was a true sport and took some fantastic pictures of the players in action and having a great time.

Following the round of golf, the evening program kicked off with a networking session which included golfers, spouses, friends, and non-golfers who had gathered to support Cancer Research UK.  Networking was followed by speeches, stories shared by relatives and friends of cancer patients and not to mention tales of the trials, tribulations and the challenges faced by the golfers.  The evening was also attended by Rose Dalton and David Dalton on behalf of Cancer Research UK.  Rose gave a wonderful presentation on the history of Cancer Research UK, how cancer has effected the lives of many in UK and various breakthroughs made by Cancer Research UK over time.  During her speech, Rose urged everyone present to donate generously as Cancer Research UK is the only organisation that spends 82p of every £1 raised on actual research.

Tom Balmont provided the entertainment for the evening, kept the audience spell bound with his humour and managed the auction as well.  The energy and enthusiasm shown by people during the fund raising was heart-warming.  Tabaq raised valuable funds from the auction and from its Just Giving page, www.justgiving.com/tabaq/.

Prizes were handed out to the overall winner Zubair Rafiq.  The winning team “Sultans of Swing” included Sultan Noori, Zubair Rafiq and Erik Badarello who took medals.  Nearest to the pin was won by Amanda Bouch and the longest drive was won by James Mitchell.

The evening ended with special thanks by the CEO, Sultan Noori to the sponsors of the event which included Tesco, Specsavers Wokingham, Get Vanilla, Ben Cummings Golf, Sand Martins Golf Club, Emma Ferguson Photography, Faiqaz, Tylney Park Golf Club and Cote Brasserie Wokingham.
