KENT, Ohio - May 29, 2015 - PRLog -- College of Business Administration Adjunct Professor of Marketing and Entrepreneurship, Greg Graham, Ph.D. was recently elected to the Endowment Foundation Board of Directors for Haven of Rest Ministries in Akron, OH. The Board oversees gifts that are given in perpetuity for direct long-term benefits.

Haven of Rest (the Mission) neither seeks nor receives financial assistance from any government agency. Its support comes from individuals with the balance from such organizations, bequests, grants, churches and foundations. From its beginning in 1943 to the present, the Mission has adhered to a strict code of financial accountability, ethics and reporting. The majority of all funds received goes into programs and services, which in 2014 amounted to 78.3% of every dollar.

During the 2014, the Mission provided 298,442 meals and 67,244 nights of lodging for homeless men, women, children and the elderly.

“I am extremely pleased to be able to use my business and ministry experience to serve on the Board of Haven of Rest Ministries,” said Graham. “The Endowment Foundation Board manages financial resources that others have donated for the ongoing long-term benefit of the ministry.”

Founded in 1943 as a small storefront rescue mission, Haven of Rest is now one of the largest private social service agencies. Filling a vital community role, Haven of Rest provides Christ-centered programs and services that respond to the physical, spiritual and emotional needs of homeless and poor men, women and children.

“Haven of Rest provides critical emergency and daily services for the homeless and others in desperate need of help in the greater Akron area. In addition to fulfilling daily needs such as shelter and food, Haven of Rest also helps individuals and families on a long term basis providing education and training necessary for success in society,” said Graham. “Since its inception 72 years ago, Haven of Rest continues as a beacon of light and hope for individuals and families.”
