Rackemann Attorney Lauren Armstrong Participates in NAIOP Bus Tour

BOSTON - May 26, 2015 - PRLog -- On Tuesday, May 19, 2015, Rackemann attorney Lauren Armstrong participated in the 13th Annual NAIOP Bus Tour.

NAIOP, founded in 1967, is North America's largest commercial real estate professional organization. For the past 13 years the organization’s Massachusetts Chapter has run an annual bus tour which visits large commercial real estate development sites in the Boston area. This year’s tour, which was entitled RE/Vision: The Changing Suburban Landscape, focused on developments along Boston’s Route 128 Corridor. The event was attended by nearly 300 professionals involved in the commercial real estate industry.

The tour began with at 7:30 AM in Westwood, MA, with a networking and breakfast event sponsored by Rackemann, Sawyer & Brewster. The group then toured the recently completed University Station development in Westwood. University Station is a 120 acre, mixed-use development consisting of over 2,000,000 square feet of residential, office, and retail space, including a Target Superstore and a Wegman’s Grocery Store. It is situated along the Route 128 and I-95 Corridors, and is adjacent to the Route 128 Commuter Rail and Amtrak Train Station. Rackemann represented the town of Westwood throughout the planning and development process for the site.

The group then proceeded from Westwood to Needham, MA, where they took a hard hat tour of the new Global Headquarters of TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel website, which is currently under construction. The development site will eventually grow into a 41 acre “superpark” with nearly 1,000,000 square feet of office, residential, and retail space. Lauren, along with other attorneys at Rackemann, Sawyer & Brewster, represented the purchaser of TripAdvisor’s office space in their transactions with the site’s developer, Normandy Real Estate Partners.

After the tour of the TripAdvisor’s site concluded, the group proceeded on to visit three more commercial development sites along the Route 128 Corridor. They visited Reservoir Place in Waltham, which will be the site of a new headquarters for the email marketing software company Constant Contact, The Xchange in Bedford, a 475,000 square foot office park, and the New England Executive Park, where it was announced to the tour group that the Burlington office park would be re-branding itself as “The District”.

There is so much development and re-development along the Route 128 corridor that tour participants commented that they had not seen this much activity since the 1980s.
