May 25, 2015 - PRLog -- Najaam Lee (www.najaamleeart.com) spoke to the Second Church of the Nazarene congregation on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at 10 AM. Invited by Reverend Dr. Victor Price, Najaam spoke to the attendees about how she overcomes obstacles in her life. Najaam discussed the debilitating pain she feels due to her Sickle Cell anemia and explained that she uses painting to lose herself in something other than the discomfort she often feels.

Najaam is an advocate for Sickle Cell Anemia and enjoys educating the public on the topic of using alternative methods to overcome pain associated with the disease. According to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, people with sickle cell anemia are affected by chronic pain, especially in their bones. This often lasts for weeks or months at a time, making it hard to bear and mentally draining.

“Telling you [the congregation] about how I overcome my every day obstacles by creating art makes me hopeful that you know you’re not alone,” Najaam said. “Maybe you can find something that inspires you to be passionate so that you can overcome your obstacles too.”

In June, Najaam is releasing an art collection entitled, “PAIN,” which portrays a seductive, abstract exploration of beautiful body parts that share space with violent foreigners causing internal pain.

This summer, Najaam plans to speak at various events on the topic of using art to overcome pain.
