From sperm to babies, brains to stem cells - specimen specialists gather at BioBanking 2015

LONDON - May 25, 2015 - PRLog -- From sperm to babies, brains to mesenchymal stem cells, in just 4 weeks, BioBanking 2015 will gather an array of biorepositories from around the world to share their expertise on biobanking a wide range of specimens. As well sharing knowledge through case studies and interactive debate, attendees will hear from specialists representing big pharma, academia and regulatory institutions, for important updates within the biobanking industry.

The event will aim to set itself apart and establish itself at the forfront of Biobanking shows by offering:

1. A host nation case study
The 5th annual event will open with a keynote address on a study involving more than 500,000 Britons, with a focus on consent, participant characterisation and health outcomes, presented by Professor Sir Rory Collins, CEO from UK Biobank.
2. A chance to meet the MHRA
Those who have questions on regulation can take advantage of various networking opportunities and meet the Director from the National Institute for Biological Standards and Control at the MHRA, Professor Glyn Stacey. His keynote presentation will provide regulatory guidance, address banking stem cells for future therapies and provide unique insight into cell source selection and best practice for the qualification of raw materials.
3. A Dedicated spotlight on regulation and ethics
The session on regulation and ethics will discuss how to prepare for new EU guidelines, analyse personal data protection, explore code of practice for secondary use of human data and host a round table debate led by University Nottingham, Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism, UCL Baby Biobank and Institute of Child Health.
4. Updates on Bioabnking Automation
With the growing need for automated biobanking, delegates can stay ahead of the game and explore best practice in biosample pricing, post storage automated tube picking and receive guidance on storage capacity and duration.
5. A outlook into future developments
With an aim towards playing an essential role in future clinical research and development, confirmed attendees include The Institute Of Food Research, Institut De Pathologie Et Genetique, Netherlands Metabolomics Centre, Crown CRO OY, Cardiff University, plus many more!
